browsers fixed

March 27, 2007 on 2:34 pm | In quickr pickr | 1 Comment

I just fixed the problem that cause some browsers to not show the generated HTML on the post page and Lightbox overlay (click on thumbnails) on the display page.

Here is a list of browsers I have tested as working:

  • Firefox 2
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Safari
  • Netscape 7.2
  • Opera 9.1

Please comment if you have tested any other browsers and they work/don’t work, so I can resolve this issue.

unavailable

If you’ve been getting the

“This Photo is Currently Unavailable” message, I have fixed the

code for generating URLs. Now quickr pickr looks up the photo URL for each photo instead guessing at it.

Because quickr pickr now has to look up each photo it takes a little longer to generate the HTML code. This resulted in the page timing out before generating all the code, so I added some AJAX. Now each box says “Loading…” until the code has been generated.
It may take up to one minute to generate the code but it now works for 200 photo entries!

If your are still experiencing either of these issue please e-mail me.

I hope to make improvements to quickr pickr using the new UI AJAX tools from yahoo, but don’t expect much until school is out. If anyone has any learning AJAX or Java guides (online) post a comment.

tags and enclosures

January 29, 2006 on 9:22 pm | In quickr pickr | No Comments

you can now search by tag or text and change where the links go

by being able to change the links allows users to create photo feeds with enclosures
checking the enclosure box adds rel=”enclosure”, this tells feedburner that the linked file is an enclosure

look no beta

January 4, 2006 on 1:29 pm | In quickr pickr | No Comments

I took beta off the logo because it was keeping many people from not using it. I guess they thought that the entries they generated would not work at a later time, but you take the html with you and I don’t control the entry after you generate it.

When quickr pickr was first introduced I recieved a request from Shannon Roberts to add quotation marks so that users of Pivot could use quickr pickr; they have now been added after much tinkering with PHP code and HTML.

New Name?

December 24, 2005 on 1:23 pm | In quickr pickr | No Comments

The Product Manager for Flickr, Kakul Srivastava, contacted me and asked me:

Could you change the tool name or logo?

I agreed and asked for suggestions from my family and the users of QuickrFlickr. Andrew Touchstone, David Torke, and Dominique Naegele-Clifford all suggested the name QuickrPickr, so here it is.
